Ross Juniors Under 9 win Friendly Cup
Last Saturday Ross play the 2nd leg of their Challenge Cup against well respected Treadworth Tigers of Gloucester. The first leg finished 2-2 in a closely fought game at Ross. With the tie evenly balanced both teams started well on an excellent pitch. Treadworth the previous weekend had competed in an 100 team tournament at Butlins and looked bright with some good passing and committed tackling. The introduction of Luke Darwin changed the game completely, he swiftly scored 3 excellent individual goals in 5 minutes. His third particularly standing out, a lung busting 40 yard dribble and then a thunder bolt finish into the top corner, Treadworth simply could not contain him.
Ross Juniors finished the half the better team and began the second with some nice incisive passing making use of the wide pitch. Elliot stepped up to put a penalty home and Tommy added a fifth with a solo effort to match Luke’s earlier goal. Near the end Tigers got a consolation goal following some good football.
Team: Joey, Harry, Nathaniel, Liam, Myles, Luke, Tommy, Matt and Elliot.
The trophy was presented to Harry the captain and Tommy received from the Tigers Manager the Man of the Match award. It was a cracking all round effort and puts the boys in good stead for this Sunday’s County Cup Final.
